Meaning
This k.rti is in "pa~ncami vibhakti"
- abhayAmbikAyAH. The basic anvayam (word order) is "ahaM
abhayAmbikAyAH anyaM na jAnE', and all the phrases ending in
"AH"
(that are indicated by the pronoun "who" below) qualify the
ablative noun abhayAmbikAyAH.
pallavi
I know none other than Goddess
abhayAmbika, the one
who removes all ignorance, and
who is the form of supreme limitless knowledge.
anupallavi
who has the majestic gait resembling the
elephant;
who is the supreme goddess of the universe;
who is the principal behind the gem of the sky - the sun;
who is the sound and rhythm (nada and laya);
caraNaM
who shines forth with the name like bAlA;
who is verily the philosophy beginning with time and so forth;
who is effulgent in the twelve sthAnas (locations) commencing with mUla (mUladhara
to svAdiStANa);
who reveals herself silently as gross to subtle one;
who is the primordial power of the three worlds;
who is the force that powers itself;
who is the bestower of the three stages of liberation
(sAlokya, sArUpya, sAyujya);
who imparts the tAntrik knowledge like mAlinI and mantramAla;
who bears the trident (shUlinI), and
who is the self experience of guruguha.
NOTES
This k.rti does not feature a rAga mudra.
Note the ending "yAH" in each word.
Compared to the earlier songs, the words in this song are simple, but
convey very deep tAntrik philosophy. Note that every line in the caraNam
segment is a single word!
The song is full of tAntrik doctrines.
The AdyakSara prasams bAlAdi, kAlAdi,
mUlAdi, sthUlAdi are very pleasing. And the end word prAsams all ending in
the syllable "yAH" are equally fascinating.
A discussion of the rAgam
kEdAragauLa can be found in Carnatica's CAC Newsletter
(Proceedings of the Raganubhava session).
