K M VAIDYANATHAN

K M Vaidyanathan, a well-known Ghatam artiste hailed from Krishnapuram, Tanjore district. He trained under his uncle, Harihara Sharma and joined the All India Radio at the young age of sixteen as a staff artiste. His tonal perfection and fingering technique earned him a lot of respect from his peers and the public. His concert career spanned several decades as he was a much sought-after ghatam artiste. Some of the prominent artistes he accompanied were Palladam Sanjeeva Rao, Alathur brothers, D K Pattammal and so on. He also trained several prominent disciples like Palghat V A Sundaram, T H Vinayakaram, etc, who have had flourishing performing careers themselves.
