Kalladaikurichi Vedanta Bhagavatar
Born at Kallidaikurichi, Tirunelveli district, Vedanta Bhagavatar had the advantage of spending his formative years in an atmosphere where linguists, composers and musicians abounded. He had his musical training under Merattur Ramaswamy Bhagavatar and Vasudevanallur Subba Iyer. He came back to Kallidaikurichi at the age of twenty-one and settled down as a Kalakshepam artiste though he had given concerts too. His rich, resonant voice with its magnificent volume and pleasing sound and its capacity to negotiate the higher octave with remarkable ease was his asset. His conception and imaginative elaboration were remarkable.
