T S Sabhesa Iyer |
|
Born in a family that produced luminaries of the class of Pallavi Doraiswamy Iyer, Sabhesa Iyer learnt music from Maha Vaidyanatha Iyer, a highly respected musician for whom his father was the regular violin accompaniment. He was a repository of Ghanam Krishna Iyer's Padams and the compositions of Anai-Ayya and Ramaswamy Sivan. He was the first principal of the Music College of Annamalai University between 1929 and 1937. He was not only a great musician but also a great guru, having trained several disciples who later became invaluable assets to Carnatic music. | |
