'Chitravina' N Ravikiran

Child prodigy Ravikiran made his first appearance at the age of 2, as the world’s youngest artiste. One of the very few who play Chitravina, Ravikiran started performing as vocalist from the age of 5 before switching over when he was 12. He set a record with his non-stop 24-hour recital in Madras in 1985. Ravikiran, who has toured the world several times, has been hailed as a genius. A composer himself, he has directed several productions. The first Carnatic musician to be invited to collaborate with the BBC Philharmonic, his shows at the Millennium Festival in UK in 2000 were acclaimed as the best in over 2000 such shows.
