Madurai Mani Iyer |
|
Nephew of the famous Madurai Pushpavanam, he was known for his deceptively simple style and perfect sruti-alignment. His music enjoyed the appreciation of the connoisseur and the layman alike for, he could attractively package high-quality music without compromising on traditional values. He was especially adept at handling ragas with limited scope like Kannadagowla, Kapinarayani and Ravichandrika. Apart from songs like Eppovaruvaro (Jonpuri), Kandan karunai (Abheri), he popularised the Vara kritis of Dikshitar and the works of Harikesanallur Muthaiah Bhagavatar. | |
