| One of the distinguished veteran vocalists of Carnatic music, he has evolved his own style. Hailing from a family of traditional musicians of Palghat in Kerala, KVN as he is popularly known, had his early training under his grandfather. Later, he learnt from the famous maestro Ariyakkudi Ramanuja Iyengar. He has performed widely all over the country and abroad. He was in the faculty of the College of Carnatic Music at Madras for 20 years and retired as a Professor in 1982. He also taught at the American Society for Eastern Arts in Berkeley, USA. |
