THE PAST - INSTRUMENTALISTS

Dwaram Venkatasami Naidu

Dwaram Venkatasami Naidu was born on the day of Deepavali as the son of an Indian Army officer who wielded the gun as well as the (violin) bow. Naidu's elder brother Venkatakrishnayya, a violinist, gave him practical training. Due to loss of sight, a musical life was marked out for Naidu. Though his brother was his guru, the real guru was his own inner-self, backed by rapt attention, dedication, keen grasp and a rare intuition. Naidu's playing was extremely melodious, deceptively simple. He soon became very popular and established a style of his own.
