| She hailed from the Dhanammal family, the members of which were known for their traditional purity and vast repertoire, acquired either directly from the composers or their disciples. She also had rigorous training under Kanchipuram Naina Pillai. Throughout her lifetime, Brinda stood out for her uncompromising values and purity of thought and expression. Amidst all the changing trends around her, she stood firm, dedicated to preserving her unique heritage. She was a repository of many a composer's works but is best known for her inimitable rendition of Padams and Javalis. Kritis like Kantimati (Kalyani), Gajavadana (Todi) and Entanuchu (Sankarabharanam) were her evergreen hits. |
