Carnatica wishes one and all a very happy and musical Deepavali!
On this day, Carnatica would like to bring to light the memory of an immortal composer Sri Muthuswami Dikshitar, one of the Trinity composers of Carnatic music. A musical incident connected with Deepavali is that the death anniversary of this great composer falls on the day of this festival, according to the Indian calendar. It is said that Sri Muthuswami Dikshitar attained Samadhi while listening to his disciples sing the line 'Meenalochani Paasamochani' in his musical masterpiece 'Meenakshi Memudamdehi' in the raga Gamakakriya.
