I have visited carnatica.net for the first time and feel great that there are people out there to keep the jyothi of carnatic music alive and well in the corners of the world. I deeply appreciate the efforts.
One of my musings is that, particularly in south India, the seat of carnatic music, the youngster participation in the music domain is fast dwindling. The average age of the carnatic music performer has increased considerably. This is not a welcome indication of sustaining and growing the carnatic music domain.
Towards this I have created a non-profit web2.0 community website
www.taaraa.com to initiate youngster amateurs and enthusisiasts upload and showcase their talents to the world and share their talents, views and concerns.
The word 'taaraa' means rising star. This community site provides a platform for young aspiring carnatic music enthisiasts to become stars in their own rights.
