Shakti Extratainment TV channel (
www.shaktiextratainment.com), one of the first IPTV channels from India, presents a first of its kind Bani Festival on the 4th and 5th of July at Narada Gana Sabha, Chennai. Mr N Ram, Editor-in-Chief, The Hindu, inaugurates the festival at 10 A M on July 4th while noted film director, Padmashri Dr K Balachander presides over the function. Mr Murali, distinguished sweet baron and flute maestro Sangita Kalanidhi Dr N Ramani will be the Guests of Honour.
Focusing on some of the most legendary Banis (styles), this festival features some of the foremost artistes in the carnatic music field like Dr N Ramani (Mali Bani), Shri T V Sankaranarayanan (Madurai Mani Iyer Bani) , Smt Rama Ravi (Veenai Dhanammal Bani), Trichur Sri. Ramachandran (G N B Bani) , Shri P Unnikrishnan (Triger Varadachar and S Ramanathan Bani) and Lalgudi G J R Krishnan – Vijayalakshmi (Lalgudi Jayaraman Bani). This festival also features concerts by Master Balamuralikrishna (Semmangudi/ P S Narayanaswami Bani), Kum Anahita & Kum Apoorva sisters (rare Dikshitar Masterpieces), Master Vishaal Sapuram (from Austin, USA) and a vocal arangetram by Master Ashwin Sridhar.
