The Semmangudi Srinivasier
Golden Jubilee Trust and the
Carnatica Archival Centre for Music & Dance
are proud to bring out yet another live concert recording of Semmangudi Dr.
R. Srinivasier, Carnatic Musics beloved pitamaha!
Digitally re-mastered from spool
tapes recorded in the early 1960s, this concert
features a typical Semmangudi song list - a delicious blend of the best works
in Carnatic music, sung with characteristic verve and adhering to a rich
pathantaram that weaves a magical web around the listener.
The doyen is supported by the leading violin maestro of the
time, Sangita Kalanidhi Mysore Sri. T. Chowdiah who was
renowned for his seven-stringed violin. The evergreen Sangita Kalanidhi
Vellore Sri. G. Ramabhadran embellishes the concert with his subtle
sarvalaghu percussion style.
