Carnatica's voice
workshop held in Bangalore
Following the success of the Kreativ 2003
contests in Bangalore, Carnatica's next project voice workshop was also a grand success. Over the last few years, the founder-musicians, K N Shashikiran and S Sowmya,
have developed a very nice exercise package for those who face specific
voice problems, or simply want to hone their voices further. The main aim of
the workshop focussed on technical aspects of the voice such as stamina,
flexibility, range, pitch, sound-production and overall maintenance. The
workshop also systematically analyzed the different problems that
a vocalist encounters over a period of time, and how they can be solved
through musical, psychological, physiological or medical solutions.
The workshop was
organized on June 20 and 22, 2003. All the participants got a complete
voice report and special counselling sessions were organized in coordination with Tarangini and Ananya. Several workshops on this particular topic have been very successfully conducted and enthusiastically received at various venues over the world already.
Carnatica has started a Gurukulam in Bangalore, in addition to organizing regular music
camps and thematic sessions.
